Retailers copying big designers is nothing new. It is something that has always been around and there really isn't much anyone can do about it. Over the years, fashion shows have become easier to copy with the invention of the internet. Someone can just take a photo and boom it's all over the internet just waiting to be copied.

Knockoffs can be both good and bad. They help normal, middle class people not have to pay extremely expensive prices. On the other hand, it also rips off designers for their hard work. Although, the designers who work for big retailers must have talent themselves to be able to copy major designers. The downside is that knockoffs are usually lesser quality.

Personally, I only get knockoffs of certain things. That may make me sound shallow, but I'm really not. I just so happen to like name brand stuff. That doesn't mean I buy extremely expensive designer clothes. First of all, I'm not that rich; second, just no. That doesn't mean I wouldn't if I was able, because who wouldn't?

A lot of big retailers outsource their factories to Asia because people work for less there. This relates to Geography because many American companies also do that. Asian factories will also take designs from America and make them themselves and sell it online. I know this because on Ebay you can search for prom or pageant dresses and they have them for really cheap. You just give them your exact measurements and they custom make it for you.

Copying designs isn't necessarily a bad thing. I do think that retailers should come up with their own designs too. If I was a designer, even a small one, I would still want to be known for my original work and not just copies of someone else's. Not that all of their designs are copied, because they're not. They must have some creativity because after all, they are fashion designers.
